Promoting and introducing an innovation traditionally involves brand marketing and production of physical mock ups… We’ve taken it a stage further…
With the combined efforts of our team – a literal all round effort – we designed a speculative piece of product packaging for RR Spink’s Gin infused Scottish Salmon.
We initially developed the packaging concept and branding, including name generation. The Export Marketing team were looking to present the packaging at an Expo to potential buyers in Dubai.
Pack photography was desired and we wanted to give them something beyond the pack to stand out from the competition… So instead of photography we created a virtual pack in 3D and composited lifestyle images.
And then we started to really (or should we say .reality) play with the pack.
Using the 3D model we created for the ‘photography’, we developed an AR model of the pack, which not only worked on iPhone and iPad – and could be shared easily via Airdrop – but through our ‘playing around’ offered user interaction.
The ultimate selling point though, for us, is that the file is native iOS. What does this mean? No App, no third party player, no fuss – just simply download and play!

This initial project and solution has huge potential, with recent further ‘experiments’ including complex animated surgical devices and the ability to fix the AR models to real-world locations!
